Hi,

Is there anyway we can setup a system for voting on new features?

Something basic like http://www.vyatta.org/contribute/enhancements-poll

Or maybe we should just setup a uservoice account for Hostbill like this http://plesk.uservoice.com/forums/184549-general ;)

I think a good simplistic way of doing it and keeping it so everyone stays on the forums would be a forum poll but i don't see an option for a poll with SMF so a mod may be needed for that

Voting is available on SMF. I'll enable it for this board.

Polls are available in this section. Users should choose "New Poll" instead of "New Topic" when submitting their posts.

Mods have the ability to post polls.

Excellent.  I think this is an excellent way to keep people on the forums discussing the request as well.

I'll update the post rules to have users post as polls and not topics.

Not sure what is the point if Kris is never going to read them or if they are not going to be send to hostbill.

I tried to put some features requests before in their bug systems, since they only allow to report bugs but not allow to suggest basic usability tests, which could or not be considered a bug, but they consider those stuff as a feature so they just close your bug report.

One example would be, visitors that go to the chat but are not answered. You may want to check your chat log from time to time and try to contact back this users that for what ever reason waited on the chat but where not assisted.

Currently you would need to open a new ticket, copy the name, email and question. Which is annoying. A simple button next to the chat transcript called "Open Ticket" would allow you to open a ticket on sales in one click and make a follow up.

Stuff like this which is very easy to build but there is no way to suggest them to hostbill since they don´t allow any suggestions at all is kind of sad because the only way a software like that can grow is when its developed based on the feedbacks of real users and real needs. This means hosting or service providers and I don´t think knows this unless he does run a hosting company by his own which we don´t know and which I hardly think off since hosting is all about support and that is the exactly what they want to avoid, having to have any human contact at all.

I voted no.

These forums aren't for kbkp to get free advice while avoiding accountability to his user base.

These forums are for supporting the actual operators, and besides, feature requests would just be more $900 modules we wouldn't get anyway - so why do his work for free?

Ask a third party developer to do it instead. Vasicka Software will be happy to address your concerns and develop any module or functionality you desire :)
