Hi guys!

Have anyone tried using Mandrillapp in their HB? Did it work for email piping too? How was it?

Lawrence

I've never used Mandrill, but I did checkout their website. Is this it?

It looks like a subdivision, but that's just upon quick analysis. I'd like to know more about them too and if they'd work in HostBill, I've been looking for a solid SMTP service and they seem to have pretty good rates.

I'd imagine if it's an SMTP service, you'd just update your SMTP settings in HostBill. I'm probably wrong on this one though..

Yes, but becareful, it does create a huge lag when sending any sort of email from Host bill as it must connect securely.

I have tried that service too.
Bu didn't work for me?

Change the port 587
change the user name and applied the API_key to password.
Could you please help me how you manage that.
It really worked?

Patrick

I'll give it a shot tonight and see how it works out.  I could probably use something like this service anyhow, so i'll post results on if it works sometime tomorrow as well as a thanks to the OP for the link :)

Just use your username + API key for credentials.  Works flawlessly and absolutely love it.

Okay, looks good, nice jolly crew, and....

Why do I want to use this?

12,000 emails a months sounds nice, but is there some kind of marketing strategy for us to get involved with or something?

Call me der, but, I don't see the advantage of this over using our own SMTP servers. Actually, I know I must be missing something lol.

Fill me in guys! :)

Me too, I'm a little uncertain as to why you would use this SMTP service over your own? Am I not seeing a "bigger picture"?  ???

Patrick

For us, i guess it's a few things.

  • Increased deliverability
  • Avoid being labeled "spam" or blocked
  • We used a separate local email server, less maintenance and cost for us
  • Tracking clicks & opens
  • Simplicity and it goes back to point 3 again

I'm sure i could figure out more but I had a late night and i've just woken up on 3 hours sleep.  I need coffee lol

lol. You're right. I read that, but a good answer, and it was rolling around in my head. perhaps the biggest advantage, is the tracking, that's always a good thing where sales are concerned, and I know I'd be nowhere near 12K emails a month at this time.

I know that I'm going to want to utilize an effective promotional offerings campaign from time to time too, so this looks quite attractive for that.

Strictly speaking existing sales and support though, it could be utilized to send all responses from a sales department in order to determine how often someone looks at the offers, etc., giving us a conversion rate to gauge the success of any campaigns, etc.

I'm just a geek though. There are many others who know a lot better than me how/what to do, and what can be done, with a friendly neighborhood SPAM service LOL.

But yes, it keeps my IPs clean as a whistle.
