Hello,

So I have an issue an a ticket opened with Kris but no response in days. I have the colo/dedicated addons and I am trying to get the switch_snmp module working and I am failing horrible. I have entered all the relevant information and such but when I try to select a switch or do a test configuration, the loading icon comes on for a flash and then nothing. I am kinda at a lost here. Anyone have success in getting it to work?

bsmith

I am also feeling your pain!

Check the system log. Does it have an error for PHP files?

Lawrence

Try doing it again, but in Chrome with the Network tab (Under inspect element) and see if there's anything funky going on in there. Also, Bsmith mentioned checking your error log, it should have some information as to why it's happening.

I don't have the dedicated / colocation module, so It's a bit hard to troubleshoot this one.

Since it's ioncube encrypted and being a function error, sounds like something only Kris can fix.

Well it looks like we are SOL until Kris fixes it.

Or perhaps, "If", he fixes it? I'm not making fun of you, because we're all in the same boat here, but I don't suppose it hurts us to be a little self-deprecating to ease the tension - at least that's what comedic actors and actresses say about themselves.

Speaking of deprecated... Isn't that the module that someone was complaining about on the kbkp forums where theirs suddenly stopped working, and then they were told they had to pay for it again, at a couple hundred bucks more than they had the first time, and then when they questioned that, there suddenly appeared a version 2, with the version 1 being listed as "Deprecated"?

If so, which version are you using? And have you had 30 days yet?

A bit OT here, but Lawrence posted three license versions by date in a topic all its own here on the forums. I noted that it had GPLish language in it to the effect of not warranting for blah blah including merchantability or etc.... kind of verbiage....

Which is fine for GPL'd software, because it's free and you MUST be provided access to ALL of the source code, but this is closed source, encoded, commercial software, and I don't know if I've ever seen that sort of language before in the licenses of commercial software.

I could be totally wrong, but I doubt that's included in a mACROsF0t or IBM or EllisonCo (Oracle) license. In California, you can't give up many of the rights that his licenses force the user to relinquish, and he addresses that in the license by acknowledging such. But I don't know if it's valid anywhere to say, "Here's closed source, commercial software under a private license that we're charging you for, but we don't warrant it as suitable for any use or guarantee it to work at all".

IANAL (I am not a lawyer), but that just seems a bit contradictory, or maybe I read it wrong early this morning when I was falling asleep at the keyboard.

I have a plugin that hasn't seen an update for I think a year and a half, it's likely he's tossing out older versions and sticking with newer versions to avoid having to fix the old code. Kind of a Start Fresh logic. There are after all 3 versions.

Below this line is off-topic.

We all agreed to those Terms of Service, so unfortunately they're binding to us all. An online ToS is as enforceable as a written contract.

The Terms of Service is pretty much rehashed. You can view it in action via this Google Search. I'll be posting license changes as I notice them, or if someone informs me of a change.

The software version you're using and the Terms of Service you've agreed to shouldn't collide. Your continued use of the software should only apply to the terms you've agreed with unless of course you've updated, in which case you've acknowledged the updated Terms of Service.

All in all, the Terms of Service are technically legal, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have a lawyer look over them. That's a $200 fee down the drain if anyone wants to front that cost. (My apologies for going off topic a bit, just wanted to clarify.)

I'm not a lawyer, so this is not legal advice.

Yea I have been around and in the loop with HostBill to know that it will prolly not get fixed. The version I am showing for the plugin is the following: Version: 0.8.8 Filename: class.switch_snmp.php

Where do I get the updated version?

Oh, gee. it looks like you have what amounts to perhaps a pre 1.0 release? I'm not sure actually. Those version numbers might not actually coincide with the version numbers that kbkp software (Is it the Oxymoron, Quality Software? or kbkp software?) is using to brand the products with.

But here's what I can direct you to:

https://hostbillapp.com/clientarea/?cmd=module&module=downloads&view=category&id=3 Shows the following, and you can get there by going into your client area at hostbillapp.com, and then choosing the downloads item at the top, and then choosing "commercial plugins"

Then there's this page, which talks about it - geez! it was $99 just a week or so ago, now it's $500 bucks!!!! That's um... ouch! I bit my tongue!

http://hostbillapp.com/features/colocation.php

And...

http://hostbillapp.com/features/colocation-and-dedicated-server-manager.php

I don't know the difference between the two pages - prolly the same product.

Then, to [throw good money after bad] purchase, you go to your client area, then order, and then choose HostBill Plugins, as in the pic below. IMO, this is a great way to spend your money on vaporware ;)

That link is here: https://hostbillapp.com/clientarea/index.php?/cart/hostbill-plugins/

Now, I could swear that someone on the kbkp forums the other day said their colo module broke during the upgrade to 4.5.6, said they opened a $75 ticket, and were told that they needed the new "version 2" colo plugin, instead of the "version 1" colo plugin, and that the version 1 plugin was now deprecated (deprecated is supposed to mean it still works); but the only two I see referenced in the pics I've posted here are Version 2 and Version 3, so I really have no idea what to tell you about that except that it says Version 2 is now deprecated in the first graphic above.

My advice? Ask one of the new third party developers that are listed in our forums here to create a module that actually works and get it from them. There's some really kewl open source, free IPAM apps out there, and they can just work with one of those maybe?

I really can't offer anything more than that, except to say two things:

1.) I was considering the Colo and IPAM a couple of weeks back, and thought they were overpriced at the time ($99 and $49, respectively, IIRC) - but there's no way I would pay kbkp $500 bucks for a module, let alone when it's almost guaranteed not to work!

2.) I feel your pain bro.

I hope that helps.

Yea I see what you mean. Thing is we did purchase the V3 colocation module (for $500 i might add) and we like the other features in it but just cant to seem to get the snmp working. I downloaded the V3 from the client area directly.

Not sure, might have to refund the Dedicated Addon and just have one built. $500 is not a big deal for us (We currently have Ubersmith and would of seen a $XX,XXX increase in pricing with their new model).

I have already reached out to modules garden on a custom module we want done for another product we offer. If they do good, may send a lot more work to them.

No update yet from Kris on this ticket that I have open with them.

Not on mine either, he had no problem updating a ticket about custom development and creating a invoice for a "fee" of doing the estimate. Basically said I need other issues addressed first before any customization work will be done.

bsmith

Yeah, no problem saying that the username/password didn't work for testing but nothing since.

A fee for doing an estimate ahahaha this guy is insane. I certainly hope all Polish businessmen are not like this. He is not going to change until someone sues him under EU law and puts him in his place.

I was going to buy the Colo module, but not at $500, just under principle of that I know I'm just going to be angry at things not working. Photoshop is an incredible piece of software and cost $500.
