[Special Case] bug... ;)

Minor as it is, I think Lawrence needs to take a look at the system clock vs the locale of the board as it relates to the time displayed for each respective user account.

For example, I've got -8 for my time offset in my user control panel here, and while it's actually 10:55hrs here in Super Sunny Southern California, SMF is reporting the time at 05:55hrs.

Like I said, minor bug, but even beer nats are nasty in your beer :)

I've looked at the post times you've listed and they seem to be working for me, but then again the server timezone is eastern, where I'm located.

I'm gonna do a bit of reading on this one, SMF has always given me issues with timezones. Seems a lot of other SMF forums experience the same problems.

Lemme know what you come up with. Worst case scenario I can just adjust accordingly on my end. It's not a real big issue but I figured if I experimented until it worked for me, that it would eventually get fixed and then I'd be back setting it again.

Definitely not a show stopper. I often work both in UTC and PDT, and the only real issue I have is when one of my overseas machines is set to PDT for my non-priv'd user account, most distros are still messed up when it comes to the cron timestamps so it's just easier for me to do everything in UTC on those machines.

Okay I've figured this out :)

The current board time listed in one's profile isn't the time that will be displayed - it's the time that you need to offset yourself from. So, in my particular case, I put a -3 in there and all was fixed :)

I checked again, put a different value in. and selected the um... I think it was autoselect or something, and it placed the -3 in there automatically for me.

So I think it's all good. Just a matter of getting used to how this particular board works. If no one else has any comments I think this item can be closed now as 'not approved' ;)

Kindest regards,

I'm glad you got this resolved! I've never really encountered this from SMF before, but seems to be natural behavior. That, or nobody's ever brought it to my attention.

I'll leave this open for a few days to see if anyone else has wants to submit some feedback; then I'll cap the lid on this and lock it. :)

Okay, 5 days. I'll go ahead and lock this topic. I will look further into it, but I'm not sure myself how to get everyone's dates set properly automatically. Everyone can adjust their settings accordingly until times show up in their local timezone. Hope this isn't too much of an inconvenience, and if anyone needs help with this, just let myself or a board mod know.
