HostBill Changelog Discussion - Version: 4.6.8 Date: 06-21-2013

As i said in the last changelog thread about being confirmed no new features will be received in the core anymore and Nibb argued how it's been confirmed.  This is now the second release with nothing but over priced, premium "modules".  It's no longer labeled "Added/Changed"  It's now called "New Modules" in the changelog. http://hostbillapp.com/changelog.

I truly feel sorry for those of you who recently paid $45 for their renewals anytime this year.  What a waste of your $45.

I unfortunately do not see much growth potential in this software if this continues.  I'd bet money they aren't make anything off any of these "premium" modules.  No renewable income for them does not provide me great hopes in the longevity of this software

Sad that not more bugs get fixed. I think all the bugs on the bug tracker can fixed in 1 to 2 weeks if they really want.

Also i only see 2 or 3 bugs from bugtracker and the rest i have never seen there.

edit: Looks like this comes from customers who paid $75 for ticket and told them that there is bug XYZ

Seriously speaking, i think the "bug tracker" is up for aesthetics.  It's nothing more then a "now stfu" tool.

Yes i think this too! Or the bugtracker has the function that they not get more tickets with bug reports from customer, but who wants to pay $75 to report any bug? So don“t know what there plan is ...

Why thank you Patrick :) it's just by chance that you threw in the towel like only two or three weeks before he gave back subscriptions for free. that was originally the case anyway for the early adopters of HostBill too. They were promised free lifetime support and updates, but kbkp didn't honor that.

I sometimes still contemplate doing a chargeback for the bait and switch he did on that, but whenever I do, I just figure whatever, I did agree to originally pay for it and I've been given a lifetime update license since then gratis - it's the very least kbkp can offer, and it's the right thing to do anyway considering there aren't going to be any more new things in the software anyway, so it's hopefully going to work out as security updates and patches to fix bugs.

The problem is that he still doesn't fix a lot of the bugs that the users themselves dictate as high priority, and pushes out new failware
or fakeware, like the vmware module and as you pointed out earlier this morning the "deprecated" colo module, I think it was.

So yeah, I don't really feel bad about paying the 45 bucks or so, but I am concerned that there's just so little incentive to fix things that need fixing or improving while arbitrarily spinning out new modules not included, that hopefully no one will buy, instead of taking care of what should be taken care of.
I unfortunately do not see much growth potential in this software if this continues.  I'd bet money they aren't make anything off any of these "premium" modules.  No renewable income for them does not provide me great hopes in the longevity of this software

I wish people would stop calling it a bug tracker - it isn't. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bug_tracking_system#Components

That's why i called it "bug tracker" Very special quotes that are like adding 5 gold stars to the name just for KPKB :)  You'll probably notice me using the very special, very uniquely directed 5 star "special" quotes when i reference Hostbill  ::)

Added: Cloudstack: Option to automatically reset root password for new VM https://hostbillapp.com/clientarea/?/software_store/hosting_modules/cloudstack

I dont' understand what that is supposed to mean, he fixed a bug where that feature  was reported as not working before or he added a new CloudStack module, deprecating the old one, where the new paid one has this feature?

It's under Added/changed. His announcements make no sense. kbkp makes it look like HostBill has all these features when really it has nothing, and then you spend over 20 grand for fakeware and failware.

Just ran a file comparison test.

Modified Files
- /includes/modules/domain/cps_datasysteme
- /includes/modules/domain/class.cps_datasysteme.php
- /install/update468.sql

Said they were modified, but no changes in 4.6.6 to 4.6.8
- [adminarea] Module activation: PHP [Compile Error]: main(): Failed opening required
- [cart] Orderpage: Package sliders: show / hide field logic does not work
- [module] Cloudstack: Missing translation for password reset
- [module] DediMgr: SQL exception while editing vendor details
- [module] Payment: SagePay token - card expiration date is change to invalid value after tokenization
- [module] VmWare 5: Invalid datastore format: []
- [Adminarea] Income Forecast - some values are missing
- [Module] Domain Registration Fails with non standard characters. Resellerclub, OpenSRS, Netearthone, etc.

So if you are an old-time user, the only updates you've received were these,
- /includes/modules/domain/cps_datasysteme
- /includes/modules/domain/class.cps_datasysteme.php
- /install/update468.sql

This stinks.

call me thick but what are you doing to check last modified dates?  So essentially 2 files were changed for a domain module .  So this only further proves the "bug fixes" are for show.

That really does stink
