Hola Everyone,

Was wondering what kind of email templates everyone uses? Thinking of creating some nice HTML ones and was wondering if we should start some sort of repository of hostbill templates?

Thoughts?

Patrick

Absolutely...we don't use anything fancy ourselves but this idea is awesome in my opinion

Yeah, I was thinking we can all share what we have and go from there. I have a few that I will sanitize and upload.

+1 for this idea.  Unfortunately, like Patrick, we're also not using anything fancy.  However better email templates is on my to-do list.

This is definately a +1 here. Although I don't personally do anything but ASCII/Text in my personal emailing, running Thunderbird with Enigmail and a couple of other plugins always leaves me the option of toggling HTML, as well as remote images in a second step.

Most people would benefit from receiving custom HTML formatted emails, which is a good thing as long as the capability is still there for those who are set to receive text-only emails.

Lawrence is considering an extension of these forums at this time (something like http://apps.hostbillforums.com or http://hostbillforums.com/apps) to accommodate projects just like this, and feature them in a community based environment, along with 3rd party module showcases and links to download any of those known resources.

I have a funny suspicion that we're now moving towards a world where only the core HostBill will be purchased by anyone, with all of the rest of any features available and used by folks from third party locations.

Staring off with some templates @jeffrey404, we might quickly see an explosion of various designs that folks will be able to pick and choose from amongst a considerable library of collected templates :)

I know it may seem like I'm slacking, but I'm actually not. Got so much work to catch up on, business is good, but the forums shall not be neglected!

Changelog coming soon with all the recent changes as well.

But only old licenses can use 3rd party plugins, or was this revision removed from their TOS?

I think the majority of customer have realized that the No-3rd Party apps rule is invalid even for new customers.  Nibb wrote a great retort to the whole No-3rd Party Apps rule in another thread.  It's long, but I'll quote the relevant part here:

(Short Version. KBKP doesn't have the right to tell you that you cannot use other company's software. The policy is invalid.)

Now, regarding the quote you posted where hostbill says "For licenses purchased after 26th May 2013 KBKP Software S.C. is only allowed author of extensions for HostBill application. Extension is any PHP file in includes/modules directory of HostBill and any entry in hb_modules_configuration of HostBill database"

That is pretty much invalid as well. Hostbill cannot extend their license over things out of their software. A module which interacts with the software, but is your own code, you maintain the copyright and ownership over it, the database is also hosted in your server and its yours, hostbill license cannot apply to software externally to hostbill, which is the case with your own software or module. There is also no legal way that hostbill can forbid someone writing their own PHP files or interacting with their own database, as long as if does not modify hostbill code, you are in the right to do so. Its like someone selling you a car and restricting you to where you are allowed to drive.

Not to mention hostbill interacts with software code they do not own, like Apache, MySQL, PHP, IonCube, etc, so hostbill cannot restrict what interacts with their own software while breaking other softwares licenses at the same time, not to mention they use tons of open source code like Jquery, twitter bootstrap, etc.

So, no, actually hostbill cannot tell you what you do in your own server, with your own database, where ever they like it or not. MYSQL is not owned by Hostbill and neither is your database, and they cannot restrict what can interact with their software either. They can put as much as they want it in the license, but it would never hold up on court to the point it would be even silly to discuss this.

As it's invalid as said above, there is in no way that KBKP can stop you from using third party apps anyway.
