Service Pack for upgrades

Dear all,

I've searched for a clear answer in this forum and even though there are some discussions about that, it didn't answered my question. So I hope the content of my post is of unique nature and that someone from the community or hostbill can offer me THE answer to that :-).

I'm running a hosting site since 2010, with hostbill 2.5.0 from the year 2011. As it's time for us for an upgrade, we are evaluating what the market can offer us today 4 years later. As you all know there are many other less or same good products on the market, and as well as hostbill which is still here and not running behind the development of the market and its requirements.

Long story short meaning (above part was also to comply to the forum rules :-) ); I've contacted hostbill and asked how much would cost us an upgrade to the actual standard hostbill version of 2015. They told me it's € 49, which was a pleasent answer because what we payed 4 years ago for a full hostbill license was much less than what they ask today. So I replied back regarding this Service Pack

http://hostbillapp.com/service-pack-2015/

mentioning that it seems to only include 'Import Transactions' and 'Admin Statistics'. So is this SP including all the standard functionality of Enterprise 10 Edition

http://hostbillapp.com/products-services/compare/

+Import Transactions
+Admin Statistics

or am I getting for € 49,00 only those 2 import tools and I still need to order the Enterprise Edition for additional € 999,00? I haven't received a response yet from them after 2 days.

Anyone here knows the facts, the right answer?

Thank you very much.

Best Regards,
Alfons Meier

Anything new about the answer?

Ok that's what I have been told now from Hostbill.

For $49 you get the two migration tolls "Import Transactions" and "Admin Statistics". So it's actually a license for two helpful migration tools. Hostbillapp.com doesn't offer so any real license upgrade program. For older licenses from 2010 until 2013, you will have to buy a new license for the full price.

In a way understandable, as I suppose that today's product probably has nothing anymore in common with the very old versions. So you have to pay for all the work they had the last few years, and must follow their business model.

At least that's clear now. Thanks to everybody.

Cheers,

Alfons

I am slightly confused by this.  We purchased a version of HostBill in October 2013 and have been updating ever since and currently on the latest 2015 version.  Are you saying that we now have to purchase a Service Pack and then spend another $999 (minimum) to continue using the product?
Kind regards,

I suppose that it depends the version. Probably sometime in 2013 there was a major release which involved a new update schema, and I suppose you bought the new version which uses the new schema. Our version is 2.5.0., I don't think I can just patch it to 2015 :-). So in our case it's more obvious.

Hi guys,

I purchased my license right at the end of 2012 and the latest version available for download under my hostbillapp account is "HostBill v2015-04-16".

In my hostbill installation the latest I have been able to upgrade is also "HostBill v2015-04-16", although my dashboard shows "Latest Version: 2015-05-04" as the latest release available for upgrade but, that is not the case as I do not have access to the latest release download.

Bradley - what is the latest version you got installed? Do you have access to the latest release download?

Alfons - "Hostbillapp.com doesn't offer so any real license upgrade program", you might be wrong on that one. If you login to your hostbillapp account and goto "Product addons", you will see a "Upgrade Service" and it reads:

This includes:
- 100% error free upgrade
- Upgrade from any version
- upgrade in 24 hours after payment received
Price: $99.02 USD Once / $0.00 USD Setup Fee

Not really sure that one can upgrade from any version to the most latest ones but, still an option out there. If anyone have experience with the "Upgrade Service", it would be nice to hear your thoughts about how it works and any issues you might have faced with it.

Let's hope for the better.

Thanks.

Hi hbillclient,

the page is empty under Product addons. Also, I do not find anywhere an "Upgrade Service". :-(

I have 2015-05-04:2015 (4th of May) is the version we have installed.  We were notified by email that we need to download and install manually.  This is what we did and that worked fine.

Hi guys,

Alfons - the addons seems to be made available according to the HB license versions purchased(maybe because of the new update schema you were talking about) and it seems your product doesn't qualify for the upgrade service. It is really odd and I do believe that the upgrade service should be available for all, irrespective of the License versions.

Just in case if you could contact HB, you could clarify with them as it might be a technical glitch that it doesn't show up or they might have that upgrade service for your version as well but it is not advertised by them. Anyhow good luck.

Bradley - thanks. I just checked my inbox and found the mail you are talking about and just realised that I forgot that I had already downloaded the files to my PC and didn't proceed with the upgrade.

Thanks.
