Hi, Gents

This may sounds a stupid question, but I just can not start the CloudStack VM via HostBill Client portal.

HB shows 'Server is performing task' forever as below after I click the 'Power On' VM button at 'Services' window.

It's confirmed we can successfully order and create the required VM(VPS) through HostBill,  and there's no problem to power on the VM through CloudStack portal itself.  Now we are lost.

Here's my environment,

  • HostBill: Version 2014-11-8
  • CloudStackk: 4.4.1
  • Hypervisor: XenServer

Any advice will be highly appreciated !

Hi,

Having the same problem, I get the same result in client area when I try to start the VM.   I cannot start CS VM from either HB client area or from HB Admin area.

In HB Admin area when I press the on button I get this messge in Log:  "Module (CloudStack): vmbeenscheduledstartup"   and thats the last thing that happens.

Have you tried to start the VM from the admin area?   Interested to see what result you get.

Sounds like a bug......

Our environment is HB 2014-11-14 and VMware 5

Hi Verdantphils

I tried to start the VM from HB admin area, got the same message as yours, '13:19 Module (CloudStack): vmbeenscheduledstartup'.

It's interesting as I observed the VM was successfully turned on as the snapshot shows as long as we don't access the VM from the HB user portal.

If we click the VM name from HB user portal, then the VM will be immediately shutdown.   Weird.

Please check if it's the same scenario at your side.  BTW, what's the billing model you set for this VM,  free ? And what's the client area template you applied ?  I suspect it's caused by  some unknown issues.

Yours turned on from starting it in the admin area?   If so, thats a different outcome to me.    Did you check in CS if the VM was on, or check that the state of the VM was the same as what HB is telling you?

I cannot get it to start from either admin or client area, so I'm not able to test what happens in client area after its restarted.

I'm using same billing model - free, because these are for integration testing between HB, CS and Vcenter.

BTW I have other VMs using same product that are running, have not shut them off, and they continue to run.

Client area template is flatui

Yes, you can see the snapshot I attached in post above and I check the CS as well,  the VM was correctly ON.

But as I said, once I try to access the VM from HB client area,  the VM will be turned back to 'power off'.  The issue is still there.

When you met this issue since you mentioned you do have some VMs still  running ?  Is that caused by certain HB upgrade ?

Just created a new VM using the same product.   Created OK and started running no issues.

Went to HB Admin area under the account, I turned the VM on and off several times, all worked OK.   Each time I turned the VM 'on' or 'off', I went to the HB Client Area and in the server details overview tab, I clicked on 'refresh' and the state of the server changed to reflect the correct status.

So then I went into the HB Client area and tried turning the server on and off several times, each time it changed correctly and checking the status in the HB admin area also reflected the correct status.

So for this new VM, turning the VM on or off in either admin or client area behaves as it should.

The original VM was created using HB Version 2014-10-03 and since then we've upgraded twice to the latest Version of HB.    I wonder if the problem is because the VM was created using an older version of HB?

I am still stuck with this problem.

Can i know your CloudStack version ?  thanks!

Hi,

I just upgraded to the latest version of HB and still have the problem with the original VM.  The newer VM is behaving as expected.

Did you have any progress with your VM's?
