When can I renew my license?

One of my licenses was bought the 16th of June last year so it has to be renewed in 17 days to get another year of updates and "support access" (whatever that means). I did somewhat expect to be notified and offered to renew at least a month prior to this, but haven't received anything from HostBill. Neither have I found a way to renew on hostbillapp.com. Does anybody know how to renew HostBill licenses? Will I receive a reminder from HostBill or do I have to keep track on my licenses myself?

In HostBill, are you able to view your invoices? Your invoices should be under "Account > Invoices" in the HostBill client portal. If it's not there, submit a licensing ticket with a request to renew.

I have of course checked my invoices. :-) I was really just wondering if anyone know how renewals are done. Surely someone at this forum must have renewed at one time? Having to open a ticket to renew sounds a bit peculiar, and I'm sure that's not the way it's supposed to work.

In all honesty, I would not recommend renewing unless you are planning to actually upgrade to a new version.  And of course.. any upgrade will introduce new bugs, etc.

Unless there is some new functionality that you need, or bug fix that you need, I would recommend staying at your current version until you can exit the software to something else.

That being said, in previous years when I renewed there was a "renew expired support" link on the front page after I logged in.

I haven't renewed since last year (and of course am no longer planning to support this crappy useless software), but perhaps Kris has changed things.  It wouldn't surprise me if he has removed the renewal link, and forces you to pay $75 to contact him just to ask how to renew.

You should just submit a licensing ticket. (It's free) - Kris will generate an invoice for you. You should only pay the yearly rates you received when you've signed up.

We let our support subscription lapse for a month or two, before deciding it was worth it to continue. in the client area there was always the renewal for the support subscription present, and surprisingly enough, it was the one thing that didn't start changing in price when everything got all whacky.

If you're not seeing that, there's a problem and you should see if you can get any sort of response at all from opening a license ticket - you're chances may be slim that you'll get a response, but that trouble ticket department is still supposedly available at no charge.

I'm interested in hearing what happened with that so if you could let us know how that went it would be appreciated, because right now we're looking at perhaps not bothering to renew next year unless there's some compelling reason to do so.

Why do we have to even request this manually? How akward.

He is not using the features built right into the software he builds?

He could just create everyone a recurring annual package, and problem solved. We would all receive the email/invoice and would be able to renew our software instead of asking.
