Should HostBill support IDN ccTLDs?

Yes, all of them
Yes, the ICANN approved domains
Yes, the ICANN and CNNIC approved domains, but not other roots
I don't care about IDN ccTLDs
No.

Currently HostBill offers excellent support for IDNs such as bücher.com or 한국.net, but not IDN ccTLDs.  I requested HostBill implement IDN ccTLDs when I bought my license a couple years back, but there was now response to the ticket.  It sat open for about 16 months, and then it mysteriously closed.  So, is this important to the community?

Let me clarify one thing before I go any farther, I am not suggesting HostBill should support Alternate Roots. I have included the active CNNIC domains as they are used in some East Asian countries, and are considered standard in China.  Moreover they will almost certainly be approved by the ICANN as nTLDs.

What are IDN ccTLDs?
Wikipedia:
QuoteAn internationalized country code top-level domain (IDN ccTLD) is a top-level domain with a specially encoded domain name that is displayed in an end user application, such as a web browser, in its language-native script or alphabet, such as the Arabic alphabet, or a non-alphabetic writing system, such as Chinese characters.

Which IDN ccTLDs are currently active?
ICANN Approved:
Arabian: .مليسيا.
Chinese: .台湾, .台灣
Cyrillic: .испытание, .рф, .қаз
Hindi: .भारत
Korean: .한국
Sinhalese: .இலங்கை
Thai: .ไทย
CNNIC Approved (works in China and some other Asian countries)
Chinese script: .公司, .网络

Which Domain Name Registrars Support IDN ccTLDs?
This list is short, but I'll add more when I have time to check.
Hexonet: .рф
Subreg: .қаз, .рф, فلسطين.
Webnic: .新加坡, .சிங்கப்பூர், .中国, .公司, .网络, .香港

What nTLDs are coming?
(Well there's 116 applications for IDN nTLDs, so I'll include a short list of interesting ones)
Arabian: كوم ,.موقع .,عرب ,.شبكة ,.بازار
Chinese: .信息,  .慈善,  .在线, .点看, .集团,  .我爱你, .移动,  .新闻, 购物, 网络, .大拿, .网址, .信息, .游戏, .网站, .點看
Cyrillic: .ком, .москва, .онлайн, .сайт,  .дети, .рус, .орг
Hebrew: קוֹם.
Hindi: .कॉम, .नेट, .संगठन
Japanese:  .コム,  .みんな
Korean:  .닷컴, .닷넷
Thai: .คอม

Having operated TLD registries in the past, I thought, "Sure, what the heck, yes, all of them :) "

So that's how how I voted, but to be practical, I don't think it really matters at all what Hostbill does.

Yeah, I feel that way too.  But I had planned to open this poll a week ago, and didn't have time.  After the past 48 hours... I just don't care either.  But someone might.

I'm only in support of the ICANN approved domains. It's what I've always known, can't possibly fathom seeing any other way. I just see there being a mess with too many roots administering these things. Makes room for a policed internet. ICANN for the most part is pretty open. Non profit organization, perfect for growth everywhere else.

I agree regarding Alternate Roots in Hostbill, also voted for ICANN only.  I guess if someone wanted that they could make their own app.  I doubt many Hostbill owners would use alternate roots.

I did include the CNNIC domains as I am curious if any HostBill owners would be interested in those.

RU.NIC used to run an alternate root in Russia too, but it doesn't seem to have stuck the way CNNIC's has.
