Speaking of changes lately

It's like the mods over at WHT get a kick out of it.  http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1267537&page=2  They won't leave any topics open and create a message like that as they close the thread.  Though it's not WHT's fault if hostbill screws around, it's still ridiculous that topics are getting closed when they are still being discussed only to 'see if something happens'

They don't want to put their members at risk. WebHostingTalk has contacted HostBill asking information about users selling HostBill licenses. Long story short, they didn't receive a response and do not want to jeopardize / harm their members. They have no interest in hearing about HostBill on their forums. Also, HostBill is getting a lot of publicity through this. They don't want HostBill getting a market share through unethical means.

No matter what, it's a site about hosting talk and a specific category dedicated to discussion.  Now if hostbill, blesta, whmcs, ubersmith, boxbilling get a lot of talk it's pretty unfair to any software or community to limit speech because someone things it's too popular a subject.  It turns free speech in to controlled speech.  If they left 1 topic open, anything and everything could continue to be discussed good and bad.  Closing it the mod openly admitted to testing and seeing if something changes.

Now as for protecting users, that's not up to them, just like it's not up to us to verify a license.  Anyone selling or buying anywhere on the web must purchase with caution and a web site, or third party is never liable.

You're right Patrick, and I agree with you, their forums should be as open as possible. They just don't want HostBill getting Free Advertising, so I guess part of it makes sense. It's unfortunate, but that's how they wish to run their forums. They have every right to anyway.

Bear is pretty much tired of the Hostbill discussions there. I think he even mentioned wanting to a license from them before and since all the reasons we know, (no sales, etc) he never did it. I also assume he contacted Hostbill for license checks, etc, and got no reply.

Also, what is the point of creating Hostbill topics there if nobody from the company ever replies, and Bear and the moderators know Kris has an account there.

So I think they just said, enough. No more HB topics. And to be honest, I think it was quite abused lately. It seems Hostbill made one word change in their website and someone was already putting a topic about this on WHT. Its quite annoying.

Does hostbill deserves to have so many topics on WHT? I don´t think so, because all those discussion are mere and pure speculation since absolutely nobody from hostbill ever replies and nobody replying in this topics knows any information directly from them.

I agree on the free speech issue, but users where abusing lately with so many WHT topics. WHT, in particular that category is for discussing allot of topics. If we just want to discuss hostbill, then this is the right place.

I completely agree with both you and Lawrence, but it's the last comment from bear that triggered an issue for me.  Basically saying "let's close this and see if it causes hostbill to do more radical things".  Meaning, they know more threads will come and they are playing with it.  I care less if any more threads are discussed over there.  That's what these are for.  I just know it's odd to try and provoke reaction from hostbill.
