Alrighty so I'm going to do an experiment with the built-in Karma system. Anyone oppose this?

Alrighty system setup. There're endorsements, and discredits. They are anonymous, and the system cannot be abused. Nobody can see your discredits, but there will be a total of "Endorsements" shown. You can receive a negative value.

I'd suggest rewording endorsements to Thanked or thanks received.

What's the opposite of thanking someone?

Smite sounds soooo... aggressive lol.

Something that balances the two, like...

>>> +1, -1
>>> Good post, Bast post
>>> Endorse, Discredit
>>> Good job, Bad job
>>> Like, Dislike

Something professional though. Not necessarily a "Scoring" system, similar to a "Reputation" system but with professional backing. You wouldn't endorse someone you didn't believe was worth an endorsement right?

Yeah I also never liked the word smite, sounds hateful..  Like and dislike is very natural without creating a negativity for one user or another. ...likes works very well

I'm not disagreeing, but I need to know how to word it.

For the following,

Endorsements: #
[Endorse[ [Discredit]

You can take away endorsements by discrediting someone.

Now, how do I word this properly for how many "Likes" someone has received? Do I just put "Likes: #"?

My worry is that some users may think the user with 10+ likes really likes 10+ things instead of seeing it as likes received. The same could be said for Endorsements, so I guess....

Likes Received: #
[Like] [Dislike]

How's that?

Once again, I'll post this ;)

Liking it or disliking it isn't really bad, and I can live w/that just fine, but really what are we talking about?... That someone found the post useful or not.

x users found this post useful (That's on the right side of the graphic). relative usefulness of the person's rep is on the left, and you're saying that the system you put in place can go up and down depending upon how many demerits or likes that one receives right? lol.

Anyway, I'm good with anything really. I'm easy - just ask those suicide girls I have a penchant for ;)

I like Tallship's idea best, but I can't find a module for SMF with this functionality.

Found that though.

Not for $20, considering this is voluntary for you, i sure as heck would suggest against you spending anything towards these forums other than the domain you already have.  What you have so far is functional, i do like Brandley's idea best as well but SMF has a pretty limited 3rd party community and it's not as versatile as vb and similar.

Thanks for the kudos addition.

Does the forum board have a smartphone version? I would love that feature!
