HostBill in DirectAdmin?

Before I bought HostBill I read on various forums things that appear to be untrue.  One was that HostBill could be installed in a DirectAdmin server.  I had wanted and still want to do this.  Has anyone done this?  I have HostBill running in a cPanel server, and that works as good as you'd expect cPanel to run (no double meaning).  But I do want to move it to a DirectAdmin server.  I was actually Googling this when I found out this forum exists!  Can I just import the cPanel account via the DirectAdmin converter?

Any imput from someone with experience would be appreciated.

Also: Please don't turn this into a cPanel-vs-DirectAdmin thread.  Just go over to WHT for that!  There's like a decade of reading for you!

yes you can run hostbill on a DA server - we have it on a centos 6 box with DA.  Personally I would do a clean install on the DA one and then import the DB (install the same version as you have on cpanel).  Obviously your DB name / username will be different, but just change that in the config.

Thanks psybox!
That was exactly what I needed to know!

Sorry to be a bit OT, but your statement is exactly what WHT is famous for. You ask a question, and then you never receive an answer because of the OT SPAM and people telling you what they think you should do instead.

Good luck with your DA install. I've been looking at DA too just because they have an "Owned" license, and I'm opposed to "Rented" licenses, like SolusVM and cPanel and others only have the option for.

If at all possible, I avoid any kind of rented license or the vendors who only have those options.

Yeah, looks like I didn't need to post that here.  Good to know.

@WHT it would have been 30 posts of "Don't use DirectAdmin, I've never heard of it, and there for I'm an expert, also use WHMCS because everyone uses which makes it better".... and the the mod says "Stop opening threads about DA vs CP" and closes the thread.

Looks like this will be a better community.
