Nagios Module

Hello,

Does anyone have the Nagios module working correctly? I have had the colo/dedicated server manager but decided to deploy the monitoring modules for testing.

I have setup the app in Hostbill accordingly but I have not been able to get the module to pass the test configuration process. It results in "Error."

Nothing in the system logs either.

Lawrence

I've never used Nagios, and it doesn't contribute much to the topic at hand, but what environment are you using? Maybe someone could create a test environment and try to tweak the settings to get it working.

Are you using Fedora, OpenSUSE, or Ubuntu?

I'll be willing to sponsor up a VPS so someone can bash around in there to see if they can get it working right, and then post a short tutorial in the guide forums. The system requirements don't seem all that bad. I've been considering giving Nagios a run for the money, so it would actually be helping me as well.

I haven't actually looked at the Nagios module yet, but it is on the backburner of todos for me to eventually get around to.

In the meantime, I provide metrics for managed customers a bit more manually, and comprehensively, one thing that might help with sandboxing is to use is CactiEZ

Ntop was removed from the latest version, but you can still install and use it w/o any complications.

I hope that helps :)

Thank you all for the suggestions.

We already use Nagios for some internal monitoring. I am not asking for support with setting up Nagios or CactiEZ, just with the nagios addon module for hostbill.

Well @bsmith,

I'll take a look into it over the next few days myself, and regardless of what I come up with, I'll report back here to let you know.

As you know, We're all on our own, kbkp doesn't really even acknowledge our existence or concerns for the most part - at least that's been the case over the past several months. I'll do what I can to check this out and at the very least, if there's an issue where we reliably recreate this error on more than one install then it will probably have more fuel as a bug to submit in the new bugtrack system at kbkp - if they're really even listening.

One thing about calling it a bug track system that kind of bothers me, is that it's not. it doesn't send out notifies as to any update or resolution status and can't be subscribed to by anyone who wants to watch the progress or know when it's been resolved. The only thing someone can do is watch the change/new release logs to see if it's been included there.

I'd hate to see you put in a $75.00 ticket - especially if you don't get a response like so many others (including myself) haven't.

I guess the Nagios module only works in the video

bsmith,

I got the nagios module working after some testing. Seems you need to put the full path to the status.cgi file. So for me it wasnt http://domain.tld/nagios3/. It had to be http://domain.tld/nagios3/cgi-bin/

Hope that helps.
