I like the domain, should be easily found.  As of late i've found the hostbill forums have been buggy and SMF is a great forum.  Now to get everyone over here and hopefully even get Kris to direct the forum link on the HB site to here

Hopefully. I think if we keep it short and simple, other HostBill users and potential HostBill clients will find this forum a valuable resource.

And by the way just a few tweaks to the forum to get missing images loading properly. :)

:)  I do like SMF so it's a good choice.  Posting it on the hostbill forums should get a few people over here.  To be completely honest if Kris would accept these as his official forums i'm sure we could easily come up with nice and easy methods of reporting bugs.  Pre-sales is pretty easy to answer almost all questions.

Think one of us should contact Kris?

I think the first thing we should do is just let the community know. This is classified as a "Fan" forum, or an unrelated forum.

I'm currently building up a bug reporting system for HostBill. It'll be completely unrelated to HostBill, but something that Kris could use to manage bugs. Naturally Kris will be given access to mark bugs as Resolved or Patched / Testing, somewhere along those lines.

Regardless of what this forum is considered or what the community does in general, anything that could potentially help HostBill would be beneficial to the entire community as a whole.

Few things i'd recommend.
The anti-spam for posting.  This is still asking to verify after post #3.

Lastly, though it's been awhile since i used SMF, see if you can extend the 60 minute time to stay logged in.

Anyhow, it's bookmarked and i have no problem being a regular.  Here is to hoping it helps.

Session times set to 7 days. That should resolve the session limits!

As far as posting goes, I have it set at 5 posts. You think that's too much?

Yeah 7 days is perfect.  5 posts i find too much.  1 post is good from previous experience with SMF.  Spammers would usually get passed the signup part (which you have good questions set) but come first post they gave up and spam was rarely seen for my old forum.  Ultimately up to you but 5 is for sure too many.  I have plenty of patience but even for me still seeing it it's frustrating :)

Hey...hopefully this forum will lighten the dark cloud over hostbill these days and show it has a good growing community.
Hopefully we'll see more hostbill customers and even non customers posting and asking questions

I'll bring it down to 3 posts just to play it safe. I'll see how that goes and see if any spam tries to get through. Unlikely at the moment seeing how the website's new, but you never know.

Agreed. Seems like they just don't give a flying f*ck anymore. We'll see how it develops... in the meantime, glad to be here and ntmy Patrick. Where do you come from/What's your bg with HB?

I too run a hosting business since 1997.  My team were the ones who brought hostbill to my attention early last year and have since never regretted the decision to use it.  We're a bit concerned with the instability of the business behind it otherwise we hope to see good things from it.

Seems like I'm able to post without confirming my email address? Perhaps that should be changed. I can't see any good reasons for allowing people to use a fake email address when they first register on the forum, even if filling out the capthca is required to post.  ;)

Great initiative, by the way!  8)

Till you mentioned it i didn't even realize i wasn't required to confirm it.  lol

I don't think confirming an email is necessary. Just make sure you're all using a real email if you want to reset your passwords / receive notifications. I'm not interested in collecting emails.

If any SPAMmers get through, they have to pass the initial anti-SPAM factoring as well as their initial first three, 3 factor anti-SPAM authentications. if someone does that they'll be easy to catch and ban anyway since this is a small community.

Oh, good to see other folks here too :)

One thing I might suggest, is that since any of the mods on the publisher's forum are not paid (or otherwise) representatives of that company, and to avoid any possible perception, however remote, of collusion or conflict of interest, they publicly request removal of their mod status for the forums under the hostbillapp.com domain.

I was told by my new attorneys yesterday to make sure I had no official or even implied official relationship or special priviliges with that company in case things get ugly and there is eventual litigation, and if I did, then to sever those relationships immediately.
