Service packs for hostbill?
« on: May 01, 2015, 05:53:05 PM »
Is this something quite new?

http://hostbillapp.com/upgrades/

What does it actually mean? No more free updates? Good or bad?

It seems to be, that they will no more provide free updates and you have to pay 2 Service Packs, one service Pack to get updates for HostBill only and another Service Pack to get also Updates for modules, orderpages etc.

I actually don't mind as long as we can get timely updates. Seems more reasonable to have a yearly fee.

To pay $49 for all in 12 months is okay. But to get bug fixes also for modules, orderpages etc. you must pay $99  extra and this is then only for 1 - 2 Modules, Apps, Order pages, Client Areas and the $49 is only for HostBill without modules etc.

i can not read any info on these FAQ what says, that the updates for modules are free, the only thing i see is "If you purchased Cpanel module more than 12 months ago then you need to buy package: Service Pack for 1-2 Modules, Apps, Order pages, Client Areas.

So if your Modules, Apps, Order pages, Client Areas are older than 12 months you have to buy this Service Pack. The cheapest one costs $99 for 12 months and includes only updates for 1 - 2 Modules, Apps, Order pages, Client Areas.

Question: I brought HostBill DataCenter Editon with 2 Client Areas and 2 order pages and 12 modules included in license. After buying service pack for Data Center Edition/valid for/12 months/99 do I get updates for 2 Client Areas and 2 order pages and 12 modules included in license.

Answer: Yes, you get updates for all modules/apps/plugins/included in the license you have brought for $99/year.

I was thinking this is valid for any package. But sure, I might be wrong.

So now the pre 2013 have to pay $49 a year instead of $99 but only have access to service packs?  And another $99 for addon updates?

What are service packs?

$49 is only for Hostbill core updates excluding modules, order pages, Client Area themes.

$99 you will get updates for 1-2 Modules, Apps, Order pages, Client Areas
$199 for 2-3 Modules, Apps, Order pages, Client Areas.
$299 for 4-5 Modules, Apps, Order pages, Client Areas.
$399 for Unlimited Modules, Apps, Order pages, Client Areas.

All for 12 months. So to get updates for all you have to pay $448 every 12 months

Hostbill can suck my...

If anyone need the updates let me know. I am tired of their game. Google and get the updates... No need to pay 400$ for modules updates, and the next will be 92783$ for their bug report.
Even the modules you cant be sure since they just will launch module v3, and then you can buy a service pack per module every year.

it is really frustrating how often they change their license agreements and pricing. $49 a year and then get updates for all etc. would be okay, but what they do now is really bad, to pay for every module etc.

i think the module service pack will include updates to a v2, v3 etc. version of the module for which you have this service pack, all other would be stupid.

They have made changes for the service packs .... Now the Service packs for modules etc. are removed and only the Standard service packs are there.

Service Pack for HostBill (purchased in 2010-2013 ) costs still $49 and for all other versions this has changed to $99.

And this is what they say about, what is included on the service pack:

Service Pack includes:

- Import Transactions
- Admin Statistics

that seems to be what are included in the updates since they have the service pack.
