If we bought HostBill and certain features were a part of that program at the point of sale, as well as up to a certain point during our following the update process when they were introduced; and if is breaking the law to take away say, one of those modules, then kbkp has broken the law with respect to the VMware 5 module, because it was free (broken), and then it disappeared following the next update.

I'm not sure w/o looking back at my notes, but within the last three weeks or so.

I know there's a lot of "If's" in there, but IANAL, so I'm just mentioning that as one module that I believe we're still entitled to as part of our "lifetime owned, unbranded license", and current support subscription at the time of release - even though it doesn't work and as far as anyone has said here it is still broken, non-functional, and kbkp is actually charging money for at this very time.

I think it's important to mention that because kbkp has essentially done the same thing with at least a dozen other modules which although at this point appear to be honored in a grandfather sense, but because kbkp has actually broken HostBill installs before for grandfathered owners of the software, I expect that at some update the same thing is likely to happen to other current licensees.

At least the threat and  likelihood that kbkp will do this is imminent at the turn of every update.

The modules / extensions / order pages that were part of the software at the time of purchase should entitle you to updates if you have a lifetime license.

Did a lot of reading, I'm sure Kris would have to honor updates for all HostBill users who bought the software prior to 4.6.0 as it WAS PART of the software, and in the description. It doesn't feel right what's going on.

Okay I think that answers my question I made to you in that other thread you referenced with the europa.eu links.

And if I'm to glean anything further, it's that you only hope this will be honored and are also concerned that he might not anyway.

Pretty scary, especially considering the ambassadorial level of volunteer service you have provided kbkp in the past.

I can understand price increases and honoring previous contracts / agreements, but when something affects everyone and conflicts with previous agreements, it's just wrong. I am in the same boat as everyone else despite my volunteerism in the past.

Also, it frustrates me that the dozen individuals / companies I sent to HostBill in the past (and bought their software) are gonna have my neck for this. It's embarrassing that I've vouched for a company that modifies existing contracts without any justification. If Kris can honor previous contractual agreements, my statement is withdrawn, but until then, I stand firm.

We are still setting up our Hostbill control panel, and are kind of confused on all the changes. Before, we had access to OnApp Load Balancer and OnApp Reseller modules. It now appears it has disappeared from our panel (we bought this back in February) and we have to pay $99 for each one?

Was it always this way, and I'm just assuming it was free before?

This is really surprising and frustrating. I guess I need to buy Blesta license too while it's still $99. Too bad, my clients really like the DNS management feature :| I hate to let it go.

Please see this:

Information about price/modules changes in 4.6.0 release for current customers
MAY 25, 2013
Dear customers

We're quite aware that our recent changes in billing model/platform may have caused unintended confusion – we're here to straighten it up.

Pricing/renewal fees:
All changes in pricing/renewal fees are for new customers only. HostBill respects "grandfather rights".
If by accident you did not received what you've paid for (renewal fee shows as different, your access to download shows as expired), please contact Licensing Department.

Paid Live Chat/Vies Plugin
You're still free to use mentioned modules – those become paid for new customers only.
Bug fixes will be provided in future for both free and paid versions. New features will be introduced for paid versions.

Premium orderpages / clientarea themes
Update to newer version do not remove orderpages that came with your HostBill when you bought it or with updates up to recent version.
This means that you still are good to use orderpages you've bought with your HostBill.
Prices for orderpages listed as premium/paid are for new customers only.

Developer toolkit access
Access to dev toolkit is available for old customers only (anyone who signed up before 2013-05-24)

By new customers – we understand clients that signed up after 4.6.0 release (2013-05-24)

Finally we can see news fro Hostbill, and good news.
I don't know if this price changes will attract new customers and that could be a problem for the actual customers but at least some news.

I still can't understand how a company without any kind of free contact with the world beside the bug reporting tool can survive in this days.
They hope that potential new customers will post their pre-sales questions in this forum?

We have already bought the software but if was now we wouldn't do it again.
For the current hostbill price we can buy whmcs and a lot extra modules and have more features.
One of the big differences to whmcs, for us, were the order pages but now, new customers have to pay for it as the base hostbill order pages are similar.

Blesta looks like a very basic software for now so I can only see a real competitor which is WHMCS.

Enterprisevpssolutions

Hey guys I have updated to the most recent version my order pages at the moment still work. =D great news on that end. I have also just created a test order page with one of the templates and it created with no issues https://enterprisevpssolutions.com/evdsportal/index.php/cart/test/&step=0 that is a test page nothing is functional on that one, the rest you can see still work. So not sure if they are locking it out yet or or if its just not working yet. I am starting to worry even more now.

After all the reports of success on here i did the update and all is good for us too.  Thankfully.  I know it's not much but the fact Hostbill is at least communicating via their blog is a step in the right direction.  I still think we should get future updates to changes and upgrades to our existing modules and not just security updates.

One thing i have to comment on though, maybe it was the 4.6.0 update but live chat works really well now, invites are fairly rapid (don't do it often anyway but i was testing everything), close a chat and the chat from the customer closes near instantly.  It's quite nice now.

Whenever I'm in a live chat with a client (Google Chrome), and the chat refreshes, it goes to the top and I have to scroll down to view the client's latest response. Other than that it works pretty good.
