i'm afraid he'll slap our wrists if we did it

It's legal though. Consider it a "Free Sample" at a support buffet.

Let it be known....

As if that's any different than no support at all?

Because that's exactly what it is.

Quote from: Lawrence on September 04, 2013, 08:53:58 AMI'm now legally entitled to one free support ticket.

And a guaranteed [non]response within 18 hours too LOL!

I'm surprised there is no charge for the quote ...   ::)

Well, there is now... 75 USD to get a quote .. The quote buttons only lead to the buy hostbill page.

I really have no clue how to get a free quote on etc an invoice template... how do Hostbill even get more clients?

LOL. It's not advertising. It's hurting him bad by choosing to be such a greedy meat head.

Discovering that his model simply isn't going to work the hard way is what it's going to take I guess. Even by posting the prices again, there's no point in buying software that doesn't hardly work, and costs thousands before you can even find out there's no support or answers to trouble tickets when someone has issues.

The so called *Enterprise* edition has no distinction apart from the regular edition except it says it's optimized and requires a dedicated server - what does that mean? "Why can't my regular HostBill be optimized?", a potential customer would likely ask.

And What does *dedicated server* mean? Seriously? I can't run SSHD or SMTPDs or MariaDB or BIND or IMAPD or POP3D or FTPDs? Why not just make it for Windows instead if that's the case. ROFLMAOPMP! Why would someone even consider a PHP based web app that requires it be the only thing running under Apache with no other daemons on the machine, and what kind of insanity drives one to create an application that must be the only thing running on a server?

Right now, it's $600 for HostBill, $200 for live chat, $200 for support ticket system, $200 ea for CloudStack, OpenStack, Proxmox, VMware, Vcenter, Vcloud, Xenserver/XCP; $200 for cPanel (just the basics) $200 for just the basic OnApp mod, $200 for an order page...

No one in their right mind is going to buy software like that at all. And they're not, which is why kbkp is now back peddling in baby steps towards the model that he migrated away from, almost destroyed his business, and that put him on the map in the first place.

I figure that within the year he'll either be back to selling a complete system with all/most of the complete offerings as a total package again (like he should, there are other players in the market that are now displacing HostBill as any sort of viable system) or go belly up and cease to exist.

When that happens there's gonna be a lot of free HostBill clones out there from asia, having been forked from kbkp's decoded and defunct code base.

lol i love it when you talk dirty haha.  That said and though it's quite a downgrade at the moment, we have Blesta setup on a VPS, installed and operational just waiting for something to happen.  If the dudiehead woke up and smelled the coffee, he'd already be making a killing, instead he's hellbent on forking his business for some incredibly weird reason.

Normally I don't care if a developer dumps their software, but Hostbill has so much bloody potential and drives me nuts that a developer who acts like he's 8 years old is running the show.

To add to that, he refuses to talk to anyone LOL!  He's scared? Or is honestly delusional enough to think he's better than us.

I believe he is both Patrick He has to be delusional to think the way he is and if he hasn't blown all the money he is making then he is scared of the new competition that is coming out on the market.

Well WHMCS is already fairly doomed with it's reputation, but that said, CE5 coming out looks promising, Blesta still needs a lot but open source is a huge plus for me and the one i'm waiting anxiously for WHSuite.  Yeah Hostbill's days are numbered as a panel to even be remotely considered unless he adapts.  People like him tend to think they will dictate how their software is sold.  Unfortunately by the time the ego learns, they are already irrelevant and a new player has removed them from the equation.
