Anyone still running rkhunter?  If so what are your thoughts on it?  Curious what you use daily.  Was reading on WHT about rkhunter and thought i'd see if people still use it

I myself don't use it, it's updates are not fast enough to keep up with modern rootkits.

It's a great piece of software for common exploits, but I have an internal tool for testing rootkit compromises. About the only external software I trust is ConfigServer, and even that I have limited to few functionality.

As long as you keep the wrong hands and the wrong software out of your machine, and have a secure environment setup, you should be good FOR THE MOST PART.

Two young boys are strolling along through the jungle, near their village, on a beautiful day in central Africa, when suddenly a frothing, foaming lion jumps before them onto the path of the trail they're following...

The first boy says, "We are doomed"

The second boy bends down to tighten his shoelaces.

The first boy exclaims, "Do you think you can run faster than that hungry lion?"

The second boy calmly states, "No. I only need to run faster than you."

Oh no.

Not OT at all. it's a metaphor.

If you're security is tighther than the next guys, most script kiddies (Like the lion) will go after the easy prey (unless your NASA or some trophy site).

Oh I got it after I've made my post. Should've left out "Off Topic" but I'm in the midst of deploying 6 servers in 6 states. I admit defeat!
