Anyone following the NIC-war?

Have any of you been following the Adams names-Meridian TLD dispute?

Apparently Adamsnames (the official/former NIC of the .tc and .vg TLDs) has lost control of the .tc and .vg NICs (NIC.vg and NIC.tc) to a former sub-contractor.

There are various versions of the story.
The Adamsnames version is here, here, and here.
Meridian TLD has made 2 announcements: here and here.

IANA seems confused, listing Adamsnames as the NIC for .vg, and Meridian TLD as the NIC for .tc.

Anyone have an opinion on who is the rightful registry of either domain?

I haven't been following this story, but I'm glad I don't run any .tc or .vg domains because of this. I hate these types of disputes, many people eventually get hurt because of this.

IANA is a sub organization of ICANN, and ICANN is a good authority, so hopefully it all works out.

I wouldn't call ICANN a good authority. They are apparently confused, but if they would themselves adhere to the RFCs then this foopah with the TLD Managers wouldn't have happened. it has happened before.

IANA although now an organization under the flag of the evil ICANN, used to merely be a pseudonym, a pen name, for Jon Postel, up until he died. Many people think that IANA was an organization even during Jon's extant years, but it wasn't - it was just simply him - One of those, "All three of us, y'know, me, myself, and I".
