I need the vmware5 version 1.26 zip file...

Hello, after performing the upgrade to HostBill 4.7.2 manually, my autoupgrade module reports that there is a new plugin, vmware5 version 1.26.

I am currently running vmware5 version 1.25 according to the screenie below:

When I run autoupgrade, it fails with the following message (autoupgrade has never worked for me):

Does anyone have a copy that I can get, of the vmware5_latest.zip that contains the 1.26 version of class.vmware5.php being referenced in this error?

Thanks :)

Really weird.

I go to my modules and look up the vmware5 module and it's reporting  as being version 1.26.

Then I click back to "home", and autoupdate is showing that I have a pending update, so I look again. Sure enough, it's saying I have version 1.25.

If I click on update now, it fails, over and over, like it always has. But if I click on "check now" (as in the pics above), the autoupdate notification goes away.

I have no idea what the heck is going on or why it reports that I don't have the latest version until I do that!

I'm going to close my *license dept* ticket that I opened over at kbkp now, since they didn't even bother to answer my issue last week regarding this either.

Thanks anyway folks :)

Hi TallShip,

I've had similar hit and miss upgrade results with the Auto-upgrade.  It did work great for the first year or so, and then... lesser so.

Anyway, when it happens for me I just check the manually downloaded files and if I need to, upload them manually.  I believe the error you described is caused by the files being upgraded, but the version listed in your SQL not getting updated.

Yeah that's really weird. Now that I see it's up to date, I don't want to jinx anything by wishing I could reliably recreate the problem in order to pin down just what is happening.

Maybe the problem went away when I clicked on that red "check now" link, maybe it was cleared after the next cronjob ran, I just don't know lol.

FWIW, I opened two license tickets on the issue - one last week and one yesterday (or was that last night?). The one last week was apparently closed by kbkp w/o any response though, so they're not going to be much help lol. I just went ahead and closed the license ticket for this week myself since I don't want him to think I'm SPAMming him ;)

I guess I won't know anymore until next week, or whenever there's another issue like this, but if it's an SQL issue, perhaps it is cron that fixes the error?

Hi,

I have similar issue when trying to update HB from 4.7.2 to 4.7.4 with same error. I'm using Nginx, php-fpm (PHP 5.4.17), MySQL 5.6.xx

Thanks

See, in the graphic above, where it says, "latest version", "last checked", and the little red link that says, "check_now"?

Try clicking on that link.

This is a recurring HostBill fashion faux pas that seems to rectify itself once you click on that link each time - at least it seems to resolve it for me each time - like yesterday when I applied the latest patch that fixed the breakage in cloudstack that wasn't broken prior to the upgrade to 4.7.4.

I hope that helps :)

Hi Tallship,

clicking check_now doesn't work for me. I'm still facing error and I think we have a different problem because in your case the HB version are same and I'm not. My current HB version is 4.7.3 that always failed when trying to upgrade to 4.7.4, please see following error:

Upgrade: failed
Unable to extract archive file /home/mejiku/public_html/hostbill_version4.7.4.zip

I can't see any clue from error log :)

Okay that's your autoupgrade not working - Neither myself nor Lawrence has ever had our autoupdate module working. I run it, but I always get that same error.

Now, for Patrick it works everytime. I'd like to say there's no rhyme or reason, but it seems that there is a way to first install cPanel, and then under a cPanel account someone can install hostbill I guess. I would never do something that way but it seems that many have.

I set up a non-priv'd user account (or you could use root I suppose), create a virtualhost container for apache with the DocumentRoot under that user's /home/ and then do a manual isntall, set all perms, move critical dirs outside of the DocumentRoot tree, rename the admin dir, and place all those configs in config.php - make sure all perms are correct according to the kbkp specifications in their wiki, and I'm all done until pretty much each Friday when I backup my db, backup my installation, unzip the new archive, run http://hostbillsite.sld.tld/install/, choose upgrade, and then I get the error we're talking about so I click on that little link making the error go away.

I hope that makes sense, I paraphrased the whole process but it's documented here in detail somewhere on these forums.

Good luck :)

I made a ticket recently and Kris gave this response:

"We appreciate your help with vmware module development, but don't understand buzz around it.
VMware module version 5 was included into download package for your HostBill with its initial release.
Each change mentioned in changelog eversince is also bundled with HostBill update you can download each release."

Is it just me or is this contradictory to what is known? or are the modules actually getting the same updates that the "premium" modules are getting now, and that discrepancy has been removed? anyone been able to verify this.

I thought it was funny, the not understanding the buzz around something. Bunch of people ask for something, finally deliver, it doesn't work, there's "buzz" about a broken function and people trying to get it to work, then it partly works and there's "buzz" about everyone trying to make it work and work-around bugs. so, this odd buzz of people using your software. what is that noise??? oh right, users, customers. we always have said in IT, this job would be great if it weren't for the users! but holy hell, users are the only reason the software exists... stop buzzing, people!

+1 - This has been what i've been saying all along.  I don't think we are getting the updates we're supposed to be.

hence why I finally made a big licensing ticket about it. he seems to think we're all getting the updates to the modules. There's no good way to check except for modules that are supposed to have fixed bugs recently, I suppose, because the modified files thing doesn't really qualify, and there are no version changes in the modules (1+ year old version #'s). He also specifically said we don't get updates to LiveChat, which I did not bring up as an example in my ticket, but we better.

Patrick

Yeah the live chat thing is a big deal as well

It would piss me off continuously, because that was also a main selling point. But really, I'm a big fan of Stardevelop's LiveChat. They have the web bit, but also a windows app that's nice, and an Android app that works great (this is hugely useful for me and others to support on-the-go) and an iphone app. For like $159 or something, unlimited seats.

Only reason i like the hostbill live chat is the "integrated" instant support ticket option.  It comes in handly a lot when creating a ticket on the fly.  On that note i agree, i like theirs as well, but i also like livechatinc a lot but they are pricey
